Dance, then, wherever you may be

By: Pastor Dave | December 19, 2024 | ,

Thus far all the content are on our new blog has been pretty serious. Time to inject a little whimsy! My absolute favorite Advent song is ‘The King of Glory Comes’. It’s just so fast and fun. The lyrics are pretty good. It makes me want to dance. So, sometimes, I dance! (Even though I’m terrible at it.) If you perchance see me trying to dance to this song, know that I am, in my super awkward, embarrassing-my-children way, almost certainly attempting some version of this gem:

I love everything about that video: the old, grainy quality; the fact that Colbert is clearing having a blast; that he makes whoever is behind the camera laugh; that he flat out runs out of breath and can’t keep singing; even the way he just repeats the first verse instead of singing one of the other verses…it’s all just so great. We’re singing this song at the end of our worship experience this Sunday, I hope you’ll sing–and dance!–with me 🙂

The title for this post comes from another toe-tappin’ classic, “Lord of the Dance.”

  1. Fabulous! Just saw a clip of him dancing at Gayle’s 70th Bday celebration that Oprah surprised her with.

Love Lord of the Dance! It was one of the songs I enjoyed singing at service next to my Dad. He put it in pre planning of 3 potential Memorial services! I advocated but it didn’t make the cut😪.
He was a physical ed major and dance was part of it. Have a memory of him leading a Double ring Torah or polka.

Thanks for sharing and the opp for me to share as well!
