Open Hearts, Open Minds,
Minooka United Methodist Church is an inclusive gathering of found family learning to be more like Jesus and actively serving the community.
Please join us for worship this week on Sunday at 11:30 am in our temporary home at Channahon United Methodist Church.
Who We Are
At Minooka UMC, we passionately affirm the inherent worth of all our neighbors as children of God. We extend a wholehearted invitation for full participation in our church’s life and ministry, regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, documentation status, ethnicity, or any doubts and questions about faith and religion.
There is no judgement here, no dress code, no pretense – just an open-hearted invitation to join our inclusive congregation. Our Communion table is open to all, inviting everyone to share in the sacred meal. Children are not only welcome but cherished, their laughter and playful spirit enriching our gatherings. We invite you to experience the love and acceptance that defines our church and become a part of our found family.
Our Beginning and the Future
Minooka United Methodist Church was founded in 1856. Those first services were held in a storefront and later in a school. The first church was built in 1866 and has been located at the corner of Church and Massasoit Streets since that time. When the original church was destroyed by a tornado in 1917, a new sanctuary was built. That 1917 building was remodeled and enlarged during 1981 and 1982.
Our congregation continues to grow and while most of our members are of United Methodist background, we have many members from many different faiths. The church serves the Minooka area and surrounding cities.
Come grow with us! We broke ground on the new home of Minooka United Methodist Church on May 1st, 2021. Our new church will be located at 1210 Ridge Rd. Stay tuned for building updates!
